Forsyth papers, 1867-1989 (bulk 1885-1965).

Correspondence, military discharge and appointment documents, reminiscences, family history, research materials, and photographs document the Forsyth and Wylie families in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Sonora, Mexico. The materials relate to family members' military service, New Mexico forts, and the Mission Library in Tucson, Ariz. Materials relating to John Wylie include his discharge from the Rough Riders, photograph of a Rough Riders reunion in 1922, soldiers handbooks listing uniforms and equipment issued,1884 and 1890, and a photograph of him while Arizona State Senator in 1925. Howard Wylie's materials include scrapbooks of Douglas, Ariz. buildings and scenes about 1920, scenes from Nacozari, Mexico in the 1920s, and annual group photographs of the Phoenix Elks Lodge, 1952-1967. There are many photographs of family members including ambrotypes and tintypes. Thomas Forsyth's materials include reminiscences of a hunt with Jim Bridger, a reminiscent poem about Gen. Custer, and photographs of soldiers at Fort Davis, Tex. about 1900. There are also photographs of mining operations and town views of Fort Bayard and Santa Rita, N.M. Correspondence about Bear Moore and Ben Lilly includes a few letters from J. Frank Dobie about a story. There is research on New Mexico forts and reports on the development of the Mission Library in Tucson, Ariz. There is also one pencil drawing of Fort Lyons, Colorado, 1862.
